Flame Ionization Detection meets GCxGC

QuadJet™ SD: Powerful GC×GC Performance with FID Sensitivity

The QuadJet™ SD is the perfect solution for confidently analyzing incoming samples in your lab. By combining the sensitivity and quantitative reliability of Flame Ionization Detection (FID) with the enhanced separation power of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC), the QuadJet SD delivers a deeper, more accurate picture of your sample composition than traditional one-dimensional GC.

With its superior ability to resolve complex mixtures, this system dramatically reduces background noise and analytical error—delivering clarity and confidence no other GC×GC-FID system on the market can match.

Features

  • QuadJet™ SD: A New Standard in GC×GC-FID Analysis

The LECO QuadJet™ SD redefines comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with Flame Ionization Detection (GC×GC-FID), offering unmatched separation power and sensitivity for complex sample analysis. Built for performance and practicality, the QuadJet SD is the perfect upgrade for laboratories ready to uncover what traditional GC methods miss.

  • Key Features

    • Advanced Separation for Complex Samples
GC×GC dramatically increases peak capacity, making it ideal for intricate sample matrices such as fuels, flavors, and environmental extracts.

    • All-in-One ChromaTOF® Software
LECO’s intuitive software handles acquisition, processing, and reporting within a single user-friendly platform, streamlining your workflow.

    • Built-in Classification Tools
Simplify identification and visualization of component classes with built-in classification software, saving time during data interpretation.

    • Cryogen-Free Modulation Option
Say goodbye to liquid nitrogen! An optional cryogen-free modulator eliminates the need for LN₂ dewars—offering greater convenience without compromising performance.

  • Theory of Operation: Why GC×GC-FID?

In traditional GC-FID analysis, compound quantification is based on the area under the FID signal. However, real-world samples—like diesel fuel—can contain thousands of compounds per injection, increasing the risk of coelution. Coeluting peaks can inflate FID signals and introduce bias error in quantification.

The GC×GC technique addresses this challenge by performing two orthogonal chromatographic separations in a single run. Coeluting compounds from the first column are further separated on a second column, dramatically improving resolution and maintaining quantitation accuracy.

LECO’s QuadJet SD includes a true GC×GC modulation device. This thermal modulator segments eluting peaks from the primary column and re-focuses them via cryo-trapping, delivering narrow peak widths—as small as 50 milliseconds—for precise secondary separation and enhanced detection.

Unmatched Modulation Technology

LECO’s Dual-Stage, Quad-Jet Thermal Modulator stands apart from any other in the market—offering:

  • Unrivaled ruggedness and performance

  • On-column cryo-focusing for improved peak shape and sensitivity

  • Significant reduction in signal-to-noise ratio, revealing trace-level compounds

For moderate-volatility compounds, the Consumable-Free Modulator provides reliable modulation performance without the use of liquid nitrogen, minimizing consumables and maximizing uptime.
